The main museums in Andorra
Andorra has more than 20 museum spaces where you can learn different aspects of the country's culture and history. You will find a great diversity of museums, interpretation centers and other places with a great weight in the heritage and day-to-day life of the Principality. A large part of the museum spaces show old trades or workplaces that were developed long ago in Andorra and that over time have become a key point for the country's evolution and prosperity.
MUSEUMS
CASA CRISTO MUSEUM
It is a traditional Andorran house that has been recovered and conditioned as an ethnographic museum. Inside we can know how life developed in a humble house in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The house contains part of the original furniture and tools of the family.
This museum allows to know the most traditional rural and livestock world and how much weight it has had in Andorra. Casa Rull moves visitors to the 19th century, just before the commercial and tourism revolution, and shows them the organization and operation of a typical country house.
CASA D'ARENY-PLANDOLIT MUSEUM
Travel back in time and discover how to live one of the families
best known in Andorra between the 16th and 19th centuries. The house was the summer residence of the Areny-Plandolit and has numerous rooms full of collectibles and original decorative elements.
La Farga Rossell shows the manufacture and marketing of iron that was made in Andorra between the 17th and 19th centuries. It has different multimedia montages that liven up the visit and show live how it worked in the forge.
MARGINEDA'S ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
It is one of the most important medieval sites documented in Andorra. It shows five different stages ranging from the Bronze Age to the 19th century. It has a total extension of 4000 square meters and represents in detail the daily life of medieval Andorra
CARMEN THYSSEN MUSEUM
This museum is a must see for art lovers, especially 19th and 20th century painting. This is a gallery that collects annual temporary of different artists and that contains some works of the Thyssen family.
Between 1909 and 1957 the manufacture of tobacco was fundamental in the life of the Andorran people. The Tobacco Museum allows you to take a walk through this very relevant sector.
MUELA AND SAWMILL OF CAL PAL
This space shows how logging was carried out using a hydraulic saw and the process of transforming corn into flour that took place during the 16th and 17th centuries in the area.
NATIONAL AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM
This museum shows the evolution of vehicles during the passage of time. It contains copies of all types and use, from the first steam engine of Pinette, in 1885, to vehicles of the second half of the 20th century.
MINIATURE MUSEUM
The museum contains different microminiature exhibits. The works are made by hand and are made on tiny supports, such as a grain of rice, a grain of salt or the or of a sewing needle. Most of the works can only be seen through a microscope.
COMIC MUSEUM
This museum hosts several thematic exhibitions of internationally famous comic creations. In addition, he periodically makes presentations by authors, Comic workshops or movie screenings related to this world. It also has a sales area for publications.
PERFUME MUSEUM
Learn about the origin and evolution of perfume in history through this museum. It contains an exhibition of more than 1,000 bottles and objects related to perfumery.
MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM
The museum pays tribute to the motorcycle through an exhibition that gathers the most representative and unique models of the market. The works exhibited go from the beginning of the 20th century to the present.
ELECTRICTY MUSEUM
The purpose of this museum is to bring the history of electricity in Andorra to all its visitors. The museum is located on the ground floor of the FEDA hydroelectric power station building. This plant was put into operation in 1934 and today is the main source of electricity production in Andorra.
SACRED ART MUSEUM
This museum houses a valuable fund full of objects and liturgical elements from the various churches of the Principality.
POSTAL MUSEUM
This space explains the evolution history of the mail and communication systems that were used in the country since ancient times so far. You can also contemplate a collection of stamps since 1928 and its manufacturing processes.
LA CORTINADA NATURE CENTER
The center allows you to interact with elements from nature, listen to forest sounds, etc. Among its facilities it houses a permanent exhibition of 2,100 meters on the formation of the Pyrenees and the climatic phenomena that have formed the current Andorran landscape.
ROMANIC INTERPRETATION CENTER
This space shows the main characteristic of the Romanesque artistic style and its evolution in Andorra. It has an audiovisual montage and an interesting permanent exhibition.
