Destral de Cerdà

The sculpture Destral de Cerdà is located on the Font de la Closa de Engolasters' road (Escaldes-Engordany). The sculpture was made by the artist Josep Cerdà and is surrounded by a landscaped environment. The piece was built in 2003 with fiberglass, marble sand and steel and until 2008 it was the focus point of the Copríncep Square. Later, the Escaldes Comú decided to move it to its current location.

The sculpture evokes verticality and wants to incite the pedestrian to look up. The blade of the piece was made following the model of the wings of an airplane and it had to be calculated that the surface had just the resistance necessary so that it did not fall down with a gust of wind.
