La grandalla, a poetic symbol

Andorra has more than 1,100 species of plants, but the most representative flower is the grandalla, which is formed by six white petals and a yellow crown in the center. The flower is a national symbol of the country and can be found throughout the Principality, in fields, forests and other green spaces. In fact, you can easily find it by the gardens and parish parks.

The grandalla appears during the spring and it is characterized by its pleasant perfume. In the antiquity, the flower was highly appreciated in the cultural sphere, since it was very linked to the world of poetry and Greek mythology, hence its Latin name: Narcissus poeticus.
